La Tasca

A year in the building, Chester's finest bicycle shop is transformed into Chester's first tapas bar. A huge sacrifice, but a worthwhile one.
La Tasca is an atmospheric place decorated in traditional style with an intimate downstairs room and a spiral staircase leading to more tables upstairs. Its walls are an orange distemper and its floors and furniture dark wood. Wrought iron bric-a-brac and Spanish tiles give it that Toledo touch.
The menu offers a couple of dozen tapas dishes at about £3 a go and some paella dishes to serve two in the evenings only. This is a fun place and the food is good. Though part of a small North-of-England chain, it has an authentic feel and plenty of Spanish staff. Come here after shopping on a sunny day when the front is open to the breeze.

What's on offer: Tortilla Espanol, Gambas Gabardina, Garlic Bread, & Cheese, Tapas, Paella, Embutidos, Patatas Bravas, Tarta de Queso, Cruzcampo beer,

Prices: Moderate

Toilets: Good.
