Alexanders

A pleasant restaurant bar during the daytime, Alexander's really comes into its own in the evening when it is transformed into one of Chester's best gigs (actually there are only two). Its premises are intimate and modern with bare brick walls.
The menu is interesting and reasonably priced with offerings from Italy, America and Thailand. You can eat al fresco, weather permitting, in the courtyard outside and we therefore recommend this as a food venue for summer months only, since tables inside can be rather gloomy. On our last visit - 3pm on a Saturday - however, the 'all day menu' was not being served!
In the evening, performances usually start at about 9:30. You will see jazz on Sundays, big(ish) name bands on Mondays or Tuesdays, comedy on Wednesdays and Saturdays, blues on Thursdays and dance bands on Fridays. Door prices for the gigs are from £3 to £12 depending on the pulling power of the act - expect to pay £6 to see anyone you've heard of.

What's on offer: Beck's beer, McEwans' lager, Guinness , Caffrey's , Garlic Bread, Chilli Con Carne, Ploughman's Platter

Prices: Moderate

Toilets: Clean and functional
